What are the different types of rehab centers?

Drug and alcohol rehab centers come in all shapes and sizes, with different amenities and services. Some rehabilitation centers offer intensive inpatient care, while others focus on outpatient treatment. 

There are six main types of rehab centers: 

Intensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Centers (IOCs)

IOCs provide short-term residential treatment for people who are recovering from an alcohol or drug addiction. Patients typically attend three to five days per week and participate in group therapy and individual counseling. 

Outpatient Rehabilitation Centers (ORCs)

ORCs are similar to IOCs, but they offer longer-term residential treatment for people who are recovering from an alcohol or drug addiction. Patients typically attend 12 to 16 weeks per month and participate in group therapy and individual counseling.

Substance Abuse Treatment Centers (SATCs)

SATCs provide comprehensive, long-term care for people who are addicted to alcohol or drugs. Patients usually spend six to twelve months at a SATC and may receive treatment during the day and live in a communal setting at night.

Types of Rehab Programs

There are a variety of rehab programs available, and each one may be more or less comfortable for you. 

Some rehab programs are based on traditional medical models, which means that you'll receive treatment in hospitals or clinics. These programs can be quite rigid, and you may not be able to participate in activities that are important to you outside of treatment.

Other rehab programs are based on a "commodified patient" model, which means that you'll work with a team of therapists who will help you rehabilitate your physical, emotional, and social health. This type of program is usually more flexible, and you can usually participate in activities that are important to you outside of treatment. 

No matter what type of rehabilitation program you choose, it's important to find one that feels comfortable for you. You should also discuss your preferences with the program staff so that they know what will make you happy.

If you struggle with addiction, what should you expect when in rehab?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the experience of rehabilitation will vary depending on the individual's addiction and physical condition. However, some tips on how to feel more comfortable in rehab centers can include:

1) Talk to your doctor or therapist about your expectations for rehab before you arrive. This will help you to better prepare for your treatment and ensure that you're receiving the best possible care.

2) Arrive early in the morning or evening when the center is quiet and less busy. This will give you a chance to settle in and get acquainted with your surroundings.

3) Try not to bring too many belongings with you, as they will only add to your stress level. You should also make sure to pack light clothing, as you may not be able to wear any of your clothes while in rehab.

4) Make use of the facilities available at the center, such as the gymnasium or pool. Rehabilitation activities can be very therapeutic and can help you regain balance and equilibrium after addiction has taken over your life.
